FAQs

Dogma

Dogma (1999), directed by Kevin Smith, is a satirical fantasy-comedy that blends religion, philosophy, and irreverent humor. The story follows Bethany (Linda Fiorentino), a disillusioned Catholic who is chosen by the voice of God (Alan Rickman as the Metatron) to prevent two fallen angels, Loki (Matt Damon) and Bartleby (Ben Affleck), from re-entering Heaven through a loophole in church doctrine—an act that would undo all of existence. Along the way, she is joined by two unlikely prophets, Jay and Silent Bob (Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith), the forgotten 13th apostle Rufus (Chris Rock), and the muse Serendipity (Salma Hayek). As they race against time, they encounter divine intervention, biblical absurdities, and theological debates, leading to a climactic battle that redefines faith and purpose. Filled with sharp wit and controversy, Dogma remains a cult classic for its bold take on religion and spirituality.
